The Top Ten Anime of 2009 According to 2ch

This year’s number one is more predictable than an “Over 9000” joke at a convention.

2 channel has finally released the results of what they believe are the top 10 series of 2009. This is now a yearly tradition over at 2ch, where its large user database informs us which series is the best. Last year Code Geass R2 was the winner, to no surprise; and the same can be said about this year’s winner. Let’s take a look.

1, Bakemonogatari (1231)
2. Darker Than Black II (805)
3. Saki (704)
4. K-ON! (582)
5. Eden of the East (525)
6. A Certain Scientific Railgun (456)
7. Kimi-ni Todoke (428)
8. Taisho Yakyu Musume (238)
9. Natsume’s Book of Friends (209)
10. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (199)

Bakemonogatari this time takes the win. This is no surprise seeing as it sold like crazy over there. But the real surprised was that Darker Than Black II was in second place, not because it is ironic, but because it beat out big hitters like K-On! and Eden of the East. I’m also surprised that Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 made it on this list, as I was expecting Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood to appear at least somewhere on this list. So this is what Japanese fans like, do you agree with them?

Hmmm, not terribly surprising all in all, although I didn't think Taisho Yakyuu Musume had made much of a splash.

Oh man! Tokyo Magnitude made it? That's awesome! Despite it's awful, awful art style I love that series :D And it makes me even happier DTB2 is up there at the second spot. Huzzah :D

Dumbstruck that Spice and Wolf II's not even on the list considering how it's first season was a surprise hit last year. Oh well, I plan to make a video on my take of anime in 2009 sometime this month, though I'm not gonna be as joyful of a couple of the titles that made 4chan's list.

Seeing K-ON on any list makes me sad.

@Sombre: Agreed. I didn't survive watching no more than 4 episodes of the show. It made me have to be more careful with what moe titles to watch. As I say, there has to be more to an anime than violence, fan service, and/or moe. If that's all there is to a show, it will only interest me for so long.

Seeing Natsume Yuujinchou up there almost makes up for seeing K-ON.

I'm kinda surprised to see Saki at 3rd.  I wasn't surprised to see Bakemonogatari at number one though.

It's nice to see K-ON! on the list. It is the only anime I've seen that's come out this year.

The force is strong in Bakemonogatari.

Two of my favs made it, good.  I was sure about Eden of the East , but Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 surprised me for good. I almost thought some other moe blobs would invade the list.
