I'm sure very few of you were around on animeOnline.com during the time that we reported on a string of strange stories-- of people throwing away money. Whether it fell from the sky, was hidden in a cardoard box, or floating down a river...Japan seems to have a weird habit of getting rid of its money.
Just because animeOnline passed away doesn't mean that Japan stopped throwing away its cash. The Mainichi has word of over ¥1 million (about $10,830 USD) being found, of all places, at a garbage processing facility. Specifically, it was over a hundred ¥10,000 bills.
Police are currently searching for the owner of the cash. But can you imagine that in the US? If you throw something away it's first-come, first-serve here in the US! On the other hand, some of these mysterious money findings are associated with the Yakuza in the public mind, so perhaps Japanese citizens are wary of such lucky finds.
Still, what would you do with a random bonus $10 grand?

The rest would go to college icky things.
