Tekkonkinkreet Screened in NYC; Grave of the Fireflies in DC

Free anime galore! Too bad one screening's already about done...

Okay, when I originally started this article, it was early enough in the day that any of you located in or near might have been able to attend the free screening of Tekkonkinkreet this evening, , at the , hosted by 's Asian/Pacific/American Institute. Alas, it is no longer that early, and I apologize for missing the boat on that one. But I thought I’d let you know that it happened anyway.

If you New Yorkers still want to hit up something to watch this weekend, you might try making it down to Washington D.C. on Saturday for a 2pm screening of Grave of the Fireflies at the Meyer Auditorium, hosted by the Smithsonian—tickets are free and come available one hour prior to the show at the auditorium. And I guess you D.C.ers and Virginians and whatnot can go too, if you want.

Meanwhile, I’ll just curl up all alone in my apartment with a DVD. Boohoohoo!

This is a really, really, great film.

Wow, I was at Cantor last night and completely missed that. They were screening Valkyrie upstairs at the same time, though, and Tom Cruise playing a Nazi is hard to pass up.
