Tekken Hollywood Movie Only Gets JP Site?

For now, at least...

I've heard bits and pieces about the upcoming live-action Tekken movie from Warner Bros. in Japan for a while now, but I've never had it all put together for me before. It's a pretty interesting production: Halloween 4 and Murder at 1600 director Dwight Little (of Cleveland, Ohio) is directing, and it was written by another Ohio native, Alan B. McElroy.

But lead Jin Kazuma is being played by Irish-Chinese actor Jon Foo, while Minnesota-born (and part-Japanese) actor Ian Anthony Dale joins him as Kazuya Mishima. Also in the film is Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, the Japanese-American actor best known as Shang Tsung in the Mortal Kombat flicks.

While a movie starring primarily people of Asian descent (Vietnamese-American Cung Le, Japanese-American Tamlyn Tomita, and South Korean actor Jae Hee are also on the roster) is a little odd, the really weird part is that Warner Bros. has so far only opened up a Japanese site for the film. Surely with its Hollywood background they intend it for a North American release as well, but...well, where's the word?

Well, hope you enjoy the new Japanese poster, anyway. ( Via Twitch Film)

not TOO excited about a game based fighting movie. they've ruined my favorite Dead or Alive series, and Street Fighter got awful treatment, I don't think Tekken will be any more different.

OH, THE HORROR! :(. LOOK WHAT THEY DID TO AYANE!

I dig Tekken, so I hope this will be good. Like, the first Mortal Kombat good, which is good enough for me...

They gave Kazuya a moustache? Oh my god. It's like Vegeta at the beginning of Dragon Ball GT all over again. Ruined.

Oh yes, because Street Fighter, DoA, and Legend of Chun Li went over soooooo well.

Psh the real question is who's going to play Yoshimitsu, can't forget him he has been in all the Tekken games. Same goes for Paul Phoenix and his wacky hair. If they aren't in it no dice. Seriously they have Heihachi Mishima and Nina Williams, who are the other half of the characters to have appeared in all the Tekken games. That said I hope they get someone with an actual Irish accent for Nina (inb4 she has an american accent in Tekken 5 and 6 for some reason) since I'm guessing being a fight game movie they'll jump all over the chance to stereotype that accent.

Also WTF where's Kuma he better make a cameo that guy's awesome and if they have Heihachi they better bring around his awesome pet grizzly bear Kuma. Speaking of, which I always wonder how Kenpachi brought a grizzly bear to Japan yet alone how that grizzly bear had a kid when grizzly bears are exclusive to the far north east in North America (i.e. B.C, Alberta, Yukon, Alaska, N.W.T)

Anyway in terms of fighting game stories Tekken's probably takes the cake for most ridiculous I suspect this to be terrible, maybe terrible in a so bad it's good kind of way but terrible none the less.
