TBS Announces $20 Million in Profits From K-ON! Merchandise

Expect to see K-ON! everything coming to a store near you

K-ON! is kind of a big deal. That's no secret, and if you attend cons or keep an eye on anime merchandise, you've surely noticed that it's drenched in K-ON! everything, from shirts to CDs to ties. And is it selling?  Well, apparently it is.  We spotted a roundup of the stuff on Japanator a few days back, and today ANN reports that TBS Holdings (parent company of TBS) has announced they raked in roughly 1.8 billion yen ($20 million US) from K-ON! merchandise alone between April 1st and June 30th. TWENTY MILLION IN THREE MONTHS.

By the way, that number doesn't include sales of the DVDs, either. That's just STUFF. Wow. Do you own any K-ON! collectibles, or are you sick and tired of seeing them already?

Don't own any K-ON collectables yet. In fact, I was shopping for something K-ON related a second before this news showed up!

This news makes me happy, as it means the anime series shouldn't be slowing down any time soon, and I love K-ON!

I don't have any merchandise myself though, not sure what I'd want. Suppose I'd be half tempted to get one of the CDs though, I dunno.

Not a fan of the K-ON! franchise, but nice to see TBS making a big profit on the merchandise from the series. In a tough economic landscape, the Moe fans have shown their support of the series and $20 million (1.8 Billion Yen) is pretty good in earnings.

Whoa...that is insanely awesome! 8D
It just blows my mind. I knew it was popular and I started to watch it to see what the fuss was about.
...And I'm still not entirely sure, but man I really enjoy this series for some reason.
Also I hope to get some K-ON! merchandise sometime. Especially the figmas.
@metalsnakezero:  Me too. I really want to get her. She's my fav of the group.

So is that selling in America, Japan or both?  Either way WHAT THE FUCK????  I mean gah the show like most moe stuff stinks majorly...(I would say harder stuff but I've been blue enough for this post all ready).  20mil in three months not just i Gross but IN NET!!!  Lord.  Well hopefully that will help pay for some better anime...sigh...
