Take Your Daughters to Manga Day?

The daughters of three prominent mangaka speak out!

I found this interesting piece on Comic Natalie this morning: apparently the daughters of Osamu Tezuka, Gegege no Kitaro's Shigeru Mizuki, and Himitsu no Akko-chan's Fujio Akatsuka, have joined together to put out a new book.

Rumiko Tezuka, Etsuko Mizuki, and Eriko Akatsuka have collaborated on a book titled "Gegege no Musume, Rerere no Musume, Rarara no Musume," which features the daughters' stories about their manga-pioneering fathers. Tezuka, for example, offers that Black Jack's Pinoko was actually modeled after her and reveals more on the character's creation.

I suppose in a way it's a bit of a gossip book, but it's also a really interesting collaboration. I'd love to read a translation of it-- but only Tezuka and sometimes Mizugi get significant recognition out here, so I don't think I'm going to hold out too much hope. Maybe I just need to get back to my kanji studies...

It is always nice to know some tasty little stories about authors, specially about those giants. Surely is going to be interesting.

Figures that almost no one cares about this, which is a really neat project, but everyone is fapping over the iPad discussion (either because they lust for it or want to destroy it).

So bitter. I don't think most people would have jumped to discuss this even if the iPad hadn't been announced last week.

Either way it sounds fun though. I'd check it out if it ever got translated.
