This is a bit short notice, but I want to try and spread the word to the Anime Vice community about a special user created Screening Room for the latest anime movie hit, Summer Wars. If you don't know what this is, The Screened.com users often get together to organize special movie screenings, then they talk about them live during the movies in the Screened.com chat.
Users either download a selected movie off of Netflix or they get their hands on the physical DVD/BD. This week the users on Screened selected Summer Wars. This is a Whiskey Media user events and everyone at Anime Vice is invited to join in. I've been in contact with the mods on Screened and they would really like everyone to get involved. So, if you have Netflix or own Summer Wars. Come join up tomorrow on Wednesday September 28th at 4PM PST (that's 7PM EST). I'll be there and I hope to see some Anime Vice users there to join in on the fun and chat.

This will hopefully not be the last joint venture between Anime Vice and Screened. We are currently discussing working out special anime screenings of the series One Piece, and perhaps other series episodes.

Thanks for posting my original blog post as an article for the News. I didn't submit it originally for news, because I wasn't sure it could get posted in time to help anyone. Also, since it's not an official Screening Room, but a user created one. Would still be nice to see some staff join in.

Summer Wars is a great movie. Too bad it's not on Netflix streaming though. I've been meaning to buy the Blu Ray, but if this is going down today, I don't have time to get it. Maybe I'll pop in anyway if I get a chance.
Summer Wars is dumb as a rock but absolutely gorgeous. I'd tune in, but I'm unfortunately stuck in class from 6:00 to 9:30 pm EST. Oh well!
Actually, if the screening is happening TONIGHT, I can't do it. What a bummer! I'm helping people write essays.
Also, @Babylonian: I'm not sure I agree that Summer Wars is dumb. It's very simple, but it's not like it doesn't have a message, and it expresses itself in some ways much subtler than, say, Toy Story 3 or Wall-E. Also, its characters aren't necessarily the best, but they're not bad either.
I'm down for this. Good thing I came around AV today.
If I had a copy of the movie, I'd join, but sadly I do not.

If I was actual staff, I would so be pushing for an official version of Screening Room for Summer Wars so more people could join in to a degree.

I don't use Netflix. I didn't realize the movie isn't on there. I just wish I could of given users more notice on this, so, they could get a copy of the movie.

The event today seemed to go off without any major issues. I checked in on the page from time to time, and there were anywhere from 17 to 24 people in the room discussing the movie for today's screening of Summer Wars.
