Summer Wars Flick Site Opens

An official website for the new Hosoda-directed anime film has fully opened up.

Just a quickie before I konk out for the evening: found via Moon Phase, an official website for the anime film Summer Wars, a tale that revolves around a pair of modern Japanese teenagers that go on a wacky vacation per the suggestion of an elderly woman, has opened up.

The film is set to be released this summer, and if the visual style looks familiar, it should come as no surprise: the flick is being animated by Madhouse and directed by Mamoru Hosoda; the two also teamed up for the movie The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Scriptwriter Satoko Okudera and character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto both worked on TokiKake as well, so it should be quite the reunion.

Currently the site only features a small smattering of characters (lead Kenji Koiso, female lead Natsuki Shinohara, the elderly Sakae Jinouchi, and the game otaku Kazuma Ikezawa), the introduction page, and a blog-- which notes that the other information will be added after more is revealed at the Tokyo Anime Fair later this month.

As a huge fan of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, I'm pretty excited about this.
