Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li Trailer

Live action trailer released.

I have some serious doubts about this.  I've said before that I just don't see Kristin Kreuk as Chun Li.  I'm not trying to knock her acting abilities or anything, she just doesn't look like Chun Li should look.  I'm surprised this movie is being made.  I do wish it success.  It does look better than the Dragonball Evolution trailer.

Is Street Fighter still relevant enough to guarantee success at the box office?

The basic gist of the narration is that the reason that this girl has become a street fighter is because it's her fate.

yep better then DB but one thing bothers me though i thought Chun li was chinese? o_0

Devilly: Yeah, well, Ziyi Zhang is Chinese but played a Japanese woman in Memoirs of a Geisha-- much to the distaste of many Japanese people.

I can see their concern. On the other hand, look at how many Australians and British and Americans play each other. Of course, due to interbreeding, western Europeans are relatively indistinct in appearance...hm.

But it's an American made movie and the dude (whatshisname) at the end of the trailer speaks English.  It just seems a little odd that the star of "The Legend Of Chun Li" doesn't even get to say one word in the trailer.  I'd even settle for a typical cheesey one-liner you often see in these types of movie.  Just seems concerning.

To me it just says the studio doesn't have a lot of faith in their actress.  If that was the case, that's pretty sucky on their part.

yep that whole debacle of casting, I was kinda disappointed about Chun Li not being asian but its not a coincidence.

You mean full Asian?  She's Canadian.  Her dad is Dutch but her mom is of Chinese descent.  I just think Chun Li should be a little less dainty.

yeah. This trailer is just to pump up the fans of that franchise and its way.. better than the Dead or Alive movie

Kinda weird, when there is people speaking english and japanese narration at the same time...

I just wonder if this was the reason she decided to leave Smallville.  Sure it can be said that the show is a sinking ship but still...

i think i saw Fei-Long in there somewhere, might be worth seeing after all.

on second thought, maybe they should have just billed the film as something entirely separate from Chun-Li and the SF2 franchise, then no one would have any expectations.
