Stan Lee's HEROMAN Anime Starts in April!

I'm starting to get pretty excited for the spring season now.

I've been really excited to get a chance to pick up Ultimo (and I wish there was a more convenient bookstore so I could DO said picking up), the collaboration between Stan Lee and Hiroyuki Takei, this week. But I haven't forgotten about Stan Lee's OTHER projects in Japan, including the upcoming anime Heroman-- which is now officially announced to start this April.

We don't know a LOT about Heroman, but from what little I've seen of the manga adaptation (which started back in July '09), it's got a remarkably "Americana" look to it: our hero, Joey Jones, wears an American flag on an early color page, and the titular robot Heroman is primarily white, but with blue and red accents.

Interestingly, flipping through the first chapter in Square Enix's Shounen Gangan, the first battle Heroman actually fights is against a demon samurai. I kind of doubt there's supposed to be a lot of subtext going on, but it could easily read as American strength (and technology) defeating ancient Japanese superstition. Although I haven't really fully read the chapter, so maybe it's not quite as it appears.

Anywho! Heroman! This April! I'm looking forward to seeing what a Stan Lee x Studio BONES collaboration looks like. How about you?    Spring season is shaping up to look pretty interesting...

Wow... Stan Lee revolutionized American Comics.... now that he's been booted off of that he's going to Japan an revolutionize Manga and Anime!
I have to say my utter and most great respect for the man's mind!

That American strength (and technology) defeating ancient Japanese superstition  sounds like a cool idea!

Oh great.. another anime to add to my list! Too many Anime!!... Not that I'm complaining

Let's be serious for a moment, you mean to tell me no one had the rights to the name HEROMAN? SRSLY?

Edit: Also, he looks like one of those Yu-Gi-Oh GX monsters.

Heroman vs. The Demon Samurai? REALLY? That looks like the plot of a comicbook circa 1942.

@RockmanBionics: Trademarks in japan are not trademarks in the US, necessarily, and also trademarks are relatively variable compared to copyright.

I have the rights to HEROMAN in the US. Okay, well, maybe not the rights, my mother says that I'm her hero-man, or something to that effect.

Everyone should check out this weeks squadcast. AHR and I postulate on how to make this series better, with the ghost of Stalin and soviet grizzly bears.
