I've hinted at this a few times, so now it's time to lay out the
The Goal: Fill in information about new series in Japan!
How to Enter:
get an entry into the contest each week, you first need to...fill in
info about ongoing shows in Japan! It can't just be a piddly little
air date or episode title, though! Here are some suggestions-- and remember, these have to be new shows. So they have to be in the spring preview (with one exception, Arad Senki, whose date wasn't announced before I finished the preview).
- An episode summary (think at least three sentences)
- A character description (new, or updated to reflect recent info)
- Screencaps (we'll say 1 dozen caps = 1 entry-- if you know how to do caps, they're pretty easy to do by )
- A collection of technical info, like air dates, episode titles, character appearances, etc. 3 items = 1 entry.
Don't stop reading there though, because in order to enter the contest there's a second step: you have to send me a PM and present your entry or entries (you can earn up to 3 per week). I'll draw a winner every Monday, so you have to send me that PM by 11:59pm on Sunday to get entry into that week's drawing, otherwise your entries will go to next week.
If you've done work on the database that doesn't match one of the above suggestions that you feel deserves an entry or enries, go ahead and PM it to me. But bear in mind I get final say on whether it counts or not!
Also note: entries do NOT carry over from week to week, so you have to keep chugging along to get to the later prizes!
For the first few weeks, I'll be selecting peoples' prizes from the following list-- a necessity due to my travel, I'm afraid. That said, I'll listen to requests for now, and if I can work it out, towards the end I'll let winners pick from the remaining prizes.
So, without further ado, the prize packs! Keep in mind that these are from my personal stash, so some of them aren't in 100% perfect mint condition-- but everything is in very good shape.
The Anime Insider Mourning Pack. These are the final four issues of Wizard's anime mag, all of which feature my “Tune in Tokyo” column and a couple of longer pieces as well, including my cover story on D.Gray-Man (issue #66).
TAKEN. The TOKYOPOP Pack. The first three volumes each of TOKYOPOP's hilarious mecha moe maid comedy Mahoromatic and fantasy manhwa Faerie's Landing. Both of which I enjoyed greatly, so I think you will too.
TAKEN. The Osamu Tezuka Pack. It's only two manga, but they're doozies: the first volumes of Dororo and Black Jack.
The Fairy Tail Pack. The first three volumes of Del Rey's awesome fantasy adventure manga by Hiro Mashima, plus one of the slap bracelets Del Rey gave out at conventions last year. (Bracelet pictured with #9 by error.)
TAKEN. The VIZ Pack. A cloth VIZ bag with the first five volumes of the over-the-top bread-making comedy Yakitate!! Japan.
TAKEN. The Ouran Host Club Pack. You didn't think I'd forget you ladies, did you? A fleece baggie from Lala, a zipper pouch, character coasters, and a cute little notebook.
The Lucky Star Pack. Can't afford the DVDs? You can still get one of those giant school uniform t-shirts-- and a Tsukasa and Kagami ruler, a little tiny Tsukasa figure, and a poster courtesy of one of the Japanese anime mags (I don't remember which, sorry!)
TAKEN. The Bad Ass Pack. That grey bag you see there features Soul Eater, and inside? A giant New York Anime Fest Gurren Lagann poster, a Gundam 00 poster, full-sheet Evangelion and Code Geass R2 stickers, the first volumes of VIZ's Black Lagoon and Dark Horse's manhwa XS Hybrid, and my personal favorite (and I think a New York Anime Fest exclusive?)-- a Sukiyaki Western Django water pistol. Seriously.
TAKEN. The Del Rey Manga Pack: The first volumes of Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, Kasumi, Faust, Aventura, NisiOisin's Zaregoto, and Kujibiki Unbalance.
TAKEN. The Pita Ten Pack. Volumes 1-8 of the Pita Ten manga (that's the entirety of the main story), plus the first volume of the light novel series.
TAKEN. The Gurren Lagann Pack. Another of those giant NYAF Gurren Lagann posters, a Dayakkaiser kit, a Gurren-dan logo “bling” necklace and chain, and a Gurren-dan logo knit patch-- handmade by yours truly, I might add, so completely and utterly exclusive. Yes, I'm THAT much of a nerd. Oh, and Yoko and Kamina cell phone charms.
The Cute Overload Pack. An anime book of A Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar, the first volume of VIZ's Di Gi Charat release, a Shugo Chara! poster, and a plushie of Kyo Kara Maoh!'s lead Yuuri in a sheep costume.
TAKEN. The Haruhi Pack. A Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime art book, the first volume of the manga, and a little maid Mikuru mini-figure.
The Blue Dragon Pack. The Nintendo DS game plus a pack of the trading game cards.
TAKEN. The Go! Comi Pack. The first three volumes of the awesome Train + Train manga, the first volume of the even more awesome Kurogane Communication manga, and the first volume of Yggdrasil, which is beautiful.
The Code Geass Pack. A figure of Suzaku Kururugi that I believe is no longer in production, a notebook with Lelouch on the front, a clear file featuring the two pals, and you can't see them in the picture, but there are also little phone charms of Suzaku, Lloyd, and Kallen.
- The Yaoi Pack. DMP just sent me two print proof sheets from Eiki Eiki's Train Train and from Mikiyo Tsuda's Princess Princess Plus-- both autographed. If no one else takes these, I might just keep them...
A Couple of Other Things:
By entering at all, you agree to abide by all of our rules. If you disobey them, try to circumvent them, create multiple accounts to get extra entries, or do anything else designed to unfairly increase your chances of winning something, we WILL revoke your win and bar you from entering our contests in the future.
You must be at least 13 to enter, and you take responsibility for ensuring the legality of me mailing these products to your home. (None of these items feature adult content, however.)
And finally-- all the usual wiki rules apply. That means NO PLAGIARISM (don't copy and paste from someone else's site!), and GRAMMAR COUNTS.
So! What prize packs do YOU want to win? Are you going to attach yourself to a particular show to update?
