It's hard to confirm for sure that this is the figure, but given the shadowy figure in the background of this post on the Revoltech Express blog, pictured above, it seems pretty likely to be correct. I left it as a thumbnail so that it'll be easier for anyone who doesn't want to be spoiled to skip over 'em...but the new unit looks pretty damn awesome, so if I were you I'd give in to the dark side and prepare to be assimilated. Rawr.

Looks like a Frankenstein Eva,almost as if NERV was only able to create the torso but some thing happened like they ran out of money or resources or something and had to finish it with robotic parts.
There's definitely a story behind 05's bizarre production and piloting configuration. Underfunding? Budget cutbacks?
