Just...wow.
Vice reader Kiriska Tweeted these...unique artist's mannequins. If you've spent much time in an artist supply shop, you've probably seen one of these standard little posable mannequins, designed to help artists work out what poses are realistic and roughly the appropriate shape and proportions for that.
But Obitsu, the company that makes the Kewpie Doll, has created a line of special 12" " manga manikins" that are supposedly "used by leading Hollywood film and animation studios." It comes in male, female, and...full-figured female.

Clearly these mannequins come from a relatively shounen mindset, since the dude is buff and six-pack'd and the girls are..well, y'know, BOOBIES! I might be less irked by it if there was a wispy bishounen version too.
Then again, at $50 a pop, I can't imagine looking at these and thinking anything but a blatant cash-in attempt. Yeesh. If you want a mannequin for drawing, I suggest you stick with the nice little $10 basic guys. Besides, they're so cute!
Artists, feel free to disagree with me if you think you could actually find these useful.

I could... kind of see how these might be useful if you actually wanted to adhere to the messed up proportions and/or have trouble with [large] busts from various angles, but I mean, you can always look at porn for reference and that would be easier, cheaper, and theoretically more realistic. Magnetic feet are also kind of cool and I know one of the biggest annoyances of the traditional wooden mannequins is that they suck at staying in place, but really, $50? As if art supplies aren't expensive enough already!
@crusader8463: You can get a pretty cheap one online. Less than $20, easily.
Well, the male figure's shoulders are disjointed. Anyone knows breasts also knows they are subject to gravity and don't stay in one fixed positions. Well, real ones don't. I guess they could be useful, but anyone willing to put out $50 would be better served to just practice more. I could tell you right here a number of books that have better tips on foreshortening and poses.
Also, are the nipples 100% necessary on the models?
Fair point, but anyone who shold be drawing nipples on women should be able to see images of actual nude women and see the actual placement of the nipples. That or the nipples showing so prominently through layers of clothing like shirts and bras.
I normally avoid the over the top nipples showing in my drawings unless it's requested or I'm going for an over the top erotic feel. I have a few nude images on my devArt page. Though I have done camel toe pretty often. In balance I do draw men's packages in much more detail then many artists do. lol
