South Korea has been watching Japan build these awesome statues across the street from their second story window, and he is not pleased. “Why does Japan get to build giant robots in their parks?” asked South Korea; but sadly no one listened to his cries as people continued to line up for the Gundam. “Screw it, I’m going to build my own, bigger than the Gundam, Tetsujin 28, and the Statue of Liberty; we are going to build ourselves Taekwon V!” and so South Korea got to work, writing up plans and drawing pretty pictures.
This statue will be 111 meters tall and will exist in Robot Land, a robot themed amusement park that will be built by Incheon Metropolitan City. This will be more than twice the height of the Statue of Liberty; and five times taller than the Gundam.
So who is this Taekwon V? To put it bluntly, Taekwon V is a complete ripoff of Mazinger Z, but taller and more angry looking. Basically, Korea loved Mazinger Z at the time, so they decided to make their own version, which is understandable. Though I have a funny feeling Japan is going to retaliate by building a giant Mazinkaiser or something. I’m all down to seeing another giant robot being built, but I’m afraid that North Korea will see it as a sign of aggression and attack.
