So, Uh, There's This Haruhi Movie Coming Out Saturday

A bit of fanfare for The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, 'cause I felt like it.

All in all, I'm kind of surprised I'm not seeing a bit more fervor about The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (and/or The Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya, if you prefer)-- given that the much-anticipated film is actually coming out this very weekend. Saturday, February 6th, and presumably they do midnight showings, which means that people will potentially be watching this film in a matter of less than 18 hours in Japan.

I guess it's a bit harder for gaijin fans to get excited since The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya hasn't been licensed (or at least not announced); it will probably be a while before even illicit downloaders get to see it, much less people who want to buy a North American release of the flick. Still and all, though, I felt a little fanfare was necessary, especially since the movie looks so cool. So here, let's have the trailer again.

And here, have some more fanart.

Hope it comes out in Europe.

I'm happy for this movie. I'll be really happy once it comes overseas.

I feel a little betrayed by KyoAni that they did all that Endless Eight instead of including Disappearance in the second season.

@Sigue: I kinda wish they'd just skipped the second season, done Disappearance, and moved on to the rest.

I'm still in the second season (still watching over and over and over the summer vacation

So just one question.... Does Yuki finally get the ability to show emotion?
Cause in the trailer she is wearing glasses and showing emotion rather than her mysterious, yet cute, silent ways.

I'm hyped for the movie and all but not surprised no one else is.  I'm also being realistic with the license, if I know Bandi they'll run Gundam Unicorn into the ground before Haruhi season 2 and the movie.

@gia: Agreeed, and that's probably a big part of why there's a huge hub bub/hype.

I figure I'll wait until there's some chance of actually seeing the Haruhi movie before I get excited about it.

Disapearance builds on the stories in the second season, so it would have been difficult to do without them.

@sora_thekey:  As tempted as I am to blab since I've read bits of the light novels for Disappearance, that's something you'd have to find out for yourself.

Disappearance could have actually fit in with the length of  the second season of Haruhi if KyoAni did several less episodes of Endless Eight.

Well, I know I have been raving about the UBW movie, but then again my few random comments and occasional pointing to trailers of it are nowhere near the level of jubilation and mass advertising you'd see from me if was about to come out on DVD/Bluray in Japan. I believe the same logic applies to Haruhi fans and this movie.
Konandaon Feb. 5, 2010 at 12:10 p.m.

Yep I'm stoked for whenever it gets licensed over here.

lanaswifton Feb. 5, 2010 at 1:14 p.m.

I can't wait for it to be out so that we can stop talking about it.
John_Martoneon Feb. 5, 2010 at 5:48 p.m.
Yum. I'm glad to have an excuse to watch this trailer again.
giaon Feb. 6, 2010 at 1:05 p.m.
@John_Martone: That's why I posted it. So you could watch the trailer again. Never mind that you could just put it on in the background on YouTube and play it over and over again.
