
It will be set in America. No doubt about that, though I don't think it will ultimately make the movie any worse it will probably make the premise of death note feel a bit foreign to alot of fans. I wonder how Japan, the rest of the conservative community and a bunch of other death-note-is-a-bad-influence groups are feeling about this now.
I can imagine, "Death Note: the Evolution"
but in Death Notes case, I think it would be pretty hard to screw it up, since its so detailed in Light's schemes and the cat and mouse chase with L that the storyline has to be followed rather properly in order for it to make any sense, unless they go for the movie route, in which only the ending was altered. (unlike DBZ = a billion episodes of anime which counts for a lot of possibilities, Transformers = a everlasting franchise with a million possibilities, Death Notes is a bit limited in that area if anyone gets what I mean. )
