As many of you know, many manga magazines in Japan come with a wide variety of promotional items to entice newsstand buyers as well as subscribers. For the most part, I prefer the shoujo anthologies for promo items, which tend to include useful things like stationary, pens and pencils, bags, and occasionally even jewelry (ask me about my Vampire Knight bracelet and necklace sometime).
But every once in a while, I just cringe. The next volume of Sho-Comi features a special additional book that's all about catching men based on their bloodtype.
See, Japan uses bloodtype the same way we use the zodiac: your bloodtype says certain things about who you are as a person. This is why in most detailed character profiles, you'll find the character's blood type, which may seem like a random piece of information to westerners.
(Actually, some people THINK we use this in the west too, but the "type A personality" concept actually comes from a 1950s psychological theory, not blood types-- though there are also "type B" and "type AB" people within that theory. It really wasn't a very good naming concept.)
So the blood types are:
- Type A: earnest, creative, and sensible, but fastidious and sometimes overly earnest.- Type B: Wild, active, proactive, but selfish and irresponsible.
- Type AB: Cool, controlled, and rational, but critical and indecisive.
- Type O: Agreeable, social, and optimistic, but vain and rude.
Which type are you based on your blood? Which one SOUNDS more like you? ALL of them sound like me. And none of them. Hm..

So, kinda at a loss.
A does fit me really well, but it's just a coincidence.
Actually, when I was born my uncle had a giant print-out done for my mum about all of my horoscope stuff, with all the x planet in y house details and stuff. It's a fun read; some of it's quite accurate, but any given paragraph probably has another paragraph that contradicts it ;)
@jlanzer: You know, I looked around and I could not see a single reference to positive or negative in any English-language articles on the topic-- Japanese would be a bit tougher; maybe I can take the time later :)
Being Korean I got a traditional first birthday. Back in the day in Korea the success rate of babies surviving their first year was very low, I mean we lived in straw huts for pete sake, but if they made it through their chances went up abundantly, hence they celebrated. After a feast the parents would place several objects in front of the baby and the first two they picked would help predict their future. Like taking a pen/book would mean they'd be smart, or rice would mean they'd never go hungry and be successful career wise and such. Somehow I ended up taking all three of my items so my family laughed it up, but I've yet to see that future come true =P Maybe it just meant I'm greedy
Anyway to the question I would lean to AB with a decent amount of O, some A and a splash of B.
That said I believe my blood type is A negative. I could be mistaken however.
Astrology wise I'm a Libra along with a wood snake. I will admit from what I've noticed and my friends have told me I exhibt quite a few traits of being born under the sign of balance and some of the latter. Particularly the ability to debate on a topic for hours (if you let me) and the tendency to have such a debate come to a fairly moderate conclusion after having taken in the many different views of the subject into account. Being fairly empathetic to the needs of another and the tendency to negotiate to my own detriment so as to not upset the other. On the other hand though I can sometimes be overly critical, indecisive and seemingly uncaring due to a reluctance with taking a hard stance on an issue.
However, either way I find most personality divination (or any divination really) to work in such broad strokes that it's easy for someone to say that totally fits me. So I don't put much stock into saying that this is what defines me and rather just find it to be some neat coincidences.
I'm O-pos. How many of you guys would consider me "optimistic"?
(edit) Nm. I didn't realize that it was mixed gender (faye) Since the title was "how to catch a man"
I agree that both all and none of those types sound like me. I know my bloodtype is A+ though. *shrug*
