Shonen Jump Then & Now

Things have changed, I’m sure you know.

Here is a simple table for all of you who would like to know the difference between popular Shonen Jump series when they first started, and what they are like now (besides Dragon Ball which is long but gone.) Most long running anime, manga, or anything changes and evolves as the story progresses, this is no spoiler. But Shonen Jump series seem to bring this concept to the extremes.

Dragon Ball became an orgy of power-ups and gold hair, Bleach became Dragon Ball with swords, Naruto became emo with not enough Rock Lee, and One Piece became One Piece (but with more gay pirates.) What I would like to add is Hunter X Hunter, which would show the crew being happy holding hands, and then either a blank frame in the next section, or a bunch of stick figures. Either way, I love Shonen Jump series for all their ups and downs, because it wouldn’t be a Shonen Jump series without the never ending win/fail roller coster we all know and love and hate.

Even though I love all of these shows, I still have to agree with this picture :)

Totally agree with the picture. One Piece is still great because it never really changed with what made it great.

This isn't exactly a new revelation, this picture is at least a few years old.

And yet it remains completely true and completely relevant. :'(

@Zeouterlimits: yeah i figured, seeing as what characters they used in the one piece picture

This is a pretty silly thing to make a news/site thingy over.

I think we need to wait and see what happens in One Piece after the most recent events. Then there is Oda's statement about Luffy.
Sigueon Feb. 14, 2010 at 8:09 p.m.
@FoxxFireArt: If One Piece turns into DBZ as well I'm going to lose my will to live.
