Shock and Awe: Chun Li Lacks Thighs for Big Box Office Numbers

It was the cry heard 'round the world: “Kristin Kreuk is hot, but she doesn't have Chun Li's thighs!” Those early doom-sayers proved correct: the film debuted in 8 place, which may sound reasonably high, except that they only drew in about $4.7 million.


“But wait a moment, gia,” you may say. “$4.7 million isn't so bad. I could buy a LOT of anime with that. And the figures I could buy!...”


Well, sure you could-- but not if you'd spent $60 million making that film in the first place. Sorry, Chun Li-- maybe your sequel with a teased Ryu (see Wikipedia's summary of the flick) will perform better. (Though I kind of doubt it...)

I'm trying to figure out...if there is ANY girl with Chun Li's thighs....seriously. Besides, Kristin Kreuk is hot and she fits the role perfectly since this is Chun LI's younger days. Other then that, the movie is going to utterly fail.

I cannot believe that 20th Century Fox spent $60 million to create this flop of a movie. which not even going to come close to grossing $60 million!  I think Chun Li's thunder thighs are the movie's least problems.  Its the entire casting and plot of the movie.  Oh well, I guess the proposed sequel will be a straight to home video release.  As far Kristen Kreuk trying to break out in Hollywood, she is probably going to be typecast into doing more superhero, action flicks.

IF this movie turns out good...IF...im going to enjoy it thoroughly. Sides, whether it's going to fail or not, you all are going to watch it regardless if not for Street fighter loyalty or curiosity.

Took me three years after the release of the first Street Fighter movie to have the courage to watch that horror.

That movie was more like a parody then anything else. This one at least....is trying to stay with the time line.

Well... good for the movie for making at least something. I guess.

I know my brother is gonna watch it for the sole reason of Kristen Kreuk being in it. = / She is pretty on the eyes though...

As for thunder thighs, has any of you seen someone with Chun Li thighs in real life? That's quite... unpleasant to say the least.

There's an ongoing problem between SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) and studios about these actors being underpayed, which has lead the SAG to consider starting a strike.

It's not really a slap in the face to SAG unless the movie is successful. The movie failing just proves that without hiring the guild actors/actresses they are losing notoriety and therefor revenue. If this movie doesn't at least make back the cost of production, you'll never see a sequel either, unless for some reason the production company thinks that Ryu is going to be some huge box office draw, which I seriously doubt.
