Sentai Filmworks To Release Clannad After Story, Ghost Hound, and He is My Master

Doesn’t have to happen at a con to be cool.

Sentai Filmworks, little brother to ADV Films has just told retailers that they will be releasing some new DVDs in October. Those DVDs are as follows, Clannad After Story Collection 1, He is my Master the complete collection, Ghost Hound collection 1, A Little Snow Fairy Sugar collection 1, and Popotan the complete collection. Good news right? Well only for you who like subtitles, because Clannad After Story, He is my Master, and Ghost Hound are subtitled only.

Also, Switchblade Films will be releasing the live-action films Zombie Self-Defense Force, and Fistful of Fuku. Are you happy, did Sentai Filmworks do good? Tell them about it buy buying the DVDs or by giving them hugs first thing in the morning.

Stupid sub only releases... I'd have bought Clannad for $50 each box set already if it came with a dub....why are they gambling on these misfits who most of the time STILL won't buy it even when it's half that price is beyond me.

Well, clearly enough people are buying the DVDs as is (like me) that it  justifies releasing the second season in the same format, which works fine for me. I know dub fans don't like it, but I love the low cost and shorter release schedule. But I especially like the low cost. :D

@Outlaw_Spike: I think it's about as much an issue for them that right now they don't have time or money to put into making a dub even if they wanted to, but it just irks me how often I hear online these spoiled brats who finally got what they wanted in a release (very cheap sub-only release with several episodes per item) and they STILL complain and say it's too expensive... $30 for 13 episodes is NOT pricey people... personally I think these people just use "dubs cost a lot" as an excuse.

That said, those of you out there who honestly do prefer it that way and buy it that way, I can totally agree with. It's just personally I heavily prefer a dub if I can get one.

I'm happy Clannad did well enough for them to pick up After Story. I'll definitely buy it, even though I'm not sure I can bring myself to watch past the opening baseball episode.

I'm not interested in He Is My Master and I'm not familiar enough with Ghost Hound to have an opinion. The lack of a dub isn't much of an issue for me... I'm happy to make the tradeoff when it gets me a faster, cheaper release.

I have the first volume on Clannad but haven't gotten around to watching it, guess I better catch up!

@HeeroYuy: If you're not FUNimation with your own in-house dub studio (and sometimes even then), it just doesn't make sense to dub something unless you think it has a shot at being on TV-- *most* anime fans who buy DVDs either prefer the subs or are wiiling to stick with them, at least in my experience and from what I hear in the green rooms and the like these days.

@gia: huh.... ok. I'll take your word for it. It just bugs and sorta surprises me that after all this time they (anime production studios in general) spent dubbing almost every show they got their hands on (even ones that clearly were not going to get on TV or sell to a big market) up till about 2007, and now it seems like they're moving backwards again. I understand times are rough, especially in ADV's case, but still...

Personally I'm a bit upset/bummed and I know in this case I'm probably in the vocal minority, but I really doubt I'm in the overall minority.
