Sentai Filmworks Licenses Ghost Sweeper Mikami

90's classic anime gets a revival

I feel like I'm seeing so many older series get new life breathed into them with re-releases lately, and I'm really happy to see that. A lot of the new generation of anime fans will look at shows like Ghost Sweeper Mikami with distaste because of the dated art style, but since so many of these shows set the tone for what we watch today, I like to give credit where it's due!

Mania reported today that Sentai Filmworks has announced that they have licensed the Ghost Sweeper Mikami TV series (based on the highly popular  manga series from Takashi Shiina). This is a hilarious comedy/horror hybrid that I absolutely loved when it originally aired, so I'm happy to see it make a return. No details are available on pricing just yet, but we'll bring them your way as soon as we know more.

Being a huge fan of The Slayers series, I am a fan of this art style which I think looks very similar.  I don't understand why anyone would get hung up on such trivialities, but for whatever reason, there is an unwillingness to watch something outside the familiar.  Either way, this series turning up again is an opportunity to check it out.  After all, if you haven't seen it, it's new to you.  Since I haven't, I'm going to put it on my "to do" list.
