Seiyuu Awards Announced-- Well, Some Of 'Em

Mmm, award season.

Not quite sure why it worked out this way, but the Fourth Annual Seiyuu Award winners have been partially announced.

 Tetsujin-28's Shoutarou
 Tetsujin-28's Shoutarou
First, a special merit award for Kazue Takahashi, a voice actress who passed away in 1999. She was best known for playing Shoutarou in Tetsujin-28 (aka the Japanese voice of Jimmy Sparks in Gigantor, if you prefer).

Merit Awards also went to Tesshou Genda (City Hunter's Umibozu, Shin-Chan's Action Kamen), Kazuko Sugiyama (Dr. Slump's Akane, Urusei Yatsura's Ten-chan), and Nobuo Tanaka (Gatchaman's Sosai X).

Nana Mizuki took home the Kei Tomiyama award (named after the voice actor best known for his work as Susumu Kodai in Space Battleship Yamato) for her work on Sigma Seven, and Tohru Furuya and Shuuichi Ikeda (Ray Amuro and Char Aznable) won the Synergy Award for Original Gundam. Finally, Wasabi Mizuta (Doraemon) won the family award for the year.

These are essentially just the 'special' awards; the rest will be announced on March 6th. Who do you think deserves an award this year? I feel like the Haruhi gang should earn something for having to repeat the same lines for eight episodes in a row.   (Via 2ch.)
