Section 23 just issued a new press release for their upcoming June releases, including two new licenses. The first is Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na, to be titled Brighter than the Dawning Blue. The story revolves around a young woman named Feena Fam Earthlight who, in spite of her name, is a princess from the Sphere kingdom and new to Earth. She moves in with high schooler Asagiri Tatsuya, the son of the first assistant to the president (...of Earth?), to learn about Earth culture. Sounds like a cute rom-com.
La Corda d'Oro, about a young woman who is gifted with a magical violin and winds up surrounded by considerably more talented musicians than herself in her school's elite music program. The manga runs in the same anthology as Ouran High School Host Club and Vampire Knight (Hakusensha's LaLa), but from what little I saw in the anime, whose second season aired on Crunchyroll, it wasn't super exciting
No, the series that I'm sure will get the most attention is Papillon Rose, an OVA and TV series that lives to mock magical girl shows like Sailor Moon and Cutie Honey. It's also known as "Lingerie Soldier Papillon Rose," if that tells you anything, and the story of the series' creation is pretty amusing.
In spite of the name-- and the theme-- I'm told that there's no sex or even particularly graphic nudity in the series, perhaps disappointingly.
The schedule, for those of you too lazy to look through the press release:
- 6/1/10 - Brighter than the Dawning Blue Complete Collection $49.98)
- 6/8/10 - Papillon Rose Complete Collection ($34.98)
- 6/15/10 - Clannad Complete Collection (The original TV + Extra + OVA, no After Story, but with the English dub; $69.98)
- 6/22/10 - La Corda d'Oro Primo Passo Collection 1 ($49.98)
- 6/29/10 - Gintama Collection 2 ($49.98)
What say you? I'm pretty excited to see Papillon Rose myself! <3
