Sebastian and Ciel Replaced in Kuroshitsuji II?

Word on Moon Phase is that Kuroshitsuji II-- the second season of the anime adaptation of the manga, about a boy named Ciel who sells his soul to a demonic butler, Sebastian, in exchange for protection during his life --is going to air this summer, and that the new season will feature two new characters: butler Claud Faustus (played by Takahiro "Cloud Strife" Sakurai) and Alois Trancy (played by Nana "Fate Testarossa" Mizuki).

Note that in the above, the guy on the left is NOT the new butler...but the text on him has the cast announcement and names.

So this is something different from the original manga, and not only that, we're not even sure if Sebastian and Ciel will appear-- but honestly, I'm betting they'll find a way to make an entrance. They're just too awesome. I mean, look!

By the way, "Alois" is a German name (perhaps a new setting?), and the name Claud Faustus is almost certainly a reference to the famous German legend of Faust or Faustus, about a man who sells his soul to the devil for power and knowledge (or, in some versions, for youth to seduce a young woman). Hmm...

i suppose now sebastian is equaled? considering this is faust who in some story decide to con satan out of the deal

...what? It's not Kuroshitsuji then. Unless new butler and kid are also going to have a devil pact? Which...would keep with the theme I guess but....

Was wondering, when they announced a second sequel, what they were going to do, since uh...

I rather assumed that anyone checking up on news like this would have already seen the first series..... Otherwise, why would they be interested? I shall edit.

@Kris: There are most likely people who have picked up Yen Press' release of the manga (only volume 1 so far, but it's also been running in their Yen+ anthology) and are interested, but haven't seen the anime yet, as it's unlicensed.

I myself haven't watched it, either ;)

Technically the guy on the left is another butler, just not the new butler. He was in one of my favorite episodes. I hope Sebastian and Ciel will make a debut; I'm very much attached to them. I haven't read the manga, but I know enough about it that Ciel and Sebastian's adventures didn't end like the first anime season did (good ending nonetheless). I'm kind of disappointed this series won't be revolving around them, though I guess this plot device allows the writers to think of a way to get around the very final ending of the first season. Oh, but wait Yay for Fate! Or rather her voice actress. :)

@Lan: That's the thing.... I really wish they hadn't ended the series that way, because it left no opening....
The manga has quite a bit more story to tell; they actually created quite a bit of the main plot from scratch.
I mean,

the devil dog and the angels and stuff..

...that doesn't even exist in the manga. The manga hasn't ended yet, either. You should pick up Yen Press's books; it's a good read.

More fun things about name meanings.

Faust is also German for fist and lucky in Latin.
Claude is a French name derived from the Roman Emperor Claudius and means lame in Latin.
Alois is also common among the Czech and Austrians and is derived from the Latin Aloysius, which is derived from the German Ludwig and Ludwig means great warrior.

@Konanda: Heh, I know we're talking "lame" as in like, disabled, but I still kinda like the idea of "Faust is lame!" ;)

The opera is pretty dull, I have to say. You have to be a real opera buff to sit through it. Very droney music @_@

I just want to know if Faustus will have a giant fist. I mean I never saw the original even though that chainsaw wielding shinigami sounded really cool but a demon butler with a giant fist would be pretty awesome. He'd be like Hellboy except less ugly.

It seems wrong to me without Sebastian. I can almost do without Ciel, but...nobody exudes butleryness (Yes, it's a word, I said so) like Sebastian does. Believe me, I've tried...you just can't do it.

I really like the series, been reading the manga, but it just scratches that demon-butler-english society itch for me. Yes, I really do form itches that specific.

@Oneesama: It's a big, big spoiler...but I think it's for the anime. I'm not totally sure myself, but the manga is still ongoing, so I don't *think* it'll apply.

ahhh. i'm going to seriously miss ciel and sebastian, but since i like the plot/style anyway i'm expecting an equally cool bulter and master :)

Kuroshitsuji II has been confirmed its release this July ^^
According to seiyuu Juwabe Shinichi (voiced as Undertaker), there will be 4 old casts remain in Kuroshitsuji II..and additional 2 new characters (yes, they are Alois and his butler, Faustus) ^^..plus Kuroshitsuji II maybe will known as Monoshitsuji (Alois and Faustus always appear in white costumes).
I'm very doted on Sebastian, even if Ciel doesn't appear anymore in the series (sorry, Ciel's fan!), I still wish Sebastian will be featured in the new manga and anime ^^.
I really wanna know what happen to Sebastian (in manga, he had died under mysterious circumstance) whereas in anime, Ciel gave up his life to his butler (Is Ciel really died?) O.o

Im just sad that Grell isnt going to be in Kuroshitsuji 2..... :(
he was one of my fav characters-well sebastian was my favorite character but grell was second ;)
