Moon Phase is that
Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls-- a merchandising franchise created by artist Niθ (Demonbane and other Nitro+ games), figure maker Alter, and Hobby Japan --is going to be made into an anime.
Now, when a franchise like this gets an anime, there are a couple of things you can count on: nice art and design, and lots of merch. But will it have an interesting story?
The series is set in an alternate present in which Japan is still a shogunate. A special school called Buou Private Academy teaches the children of the samurai how to, well, be samurai, but the school is haunted by a group that wants to rebel against the ruling Tokugawa clan (the descendents of the same group that ruled Japan in the Edo era for 265 years).
That doesn't sound so bad, but judging from the art I'm guessing it'll be a bit more wacky hijinks than serious political drama. I mean, I think that one girl is wearing shide (a streamer used in shinto rituals for purification) as a loincloth/thong. Oh, and there are a couple of bishies in there as well.
This one's my favorite. Who's yours? Do you think you'll watch this anime?

I agree with the girl with the giant hammer being my favourite since that is a pretty awesome hammer, (I love that it has a bunch of torii in the middle just for kicks) amber eyes are always amazing, she's got a cool looking jug on the side of her hip, a ripped up stocking so you know she's seen some pretty intense action and purple hair is great.
I might watch the anime depends on how seriously they take it because this seems like more comedy matererial to me.
As long as it doesn't turn into something as pathetic as Queens Blade, I might actually give it a watch. I wouldn't mind some lighthearted action with some cute female cahracters, but they are usually just pathetic and discriminatory. Character designs are nice, but the same can be said for many anime series so they will have to do better then that.
