SaiMoe: Labor Day Catch-Up

The moe-battles raged on without me!

Okay, let's chug away on these-- there were a lot of battles over the holiday weekend!

Saturday's Battles: 09/05

Yuuki Kataoka
Yuuki Kataoka
Perrinne H. Clostermann
Perrinne H. Clostermann
Saki's Yuuki Kataoka stomped the crap out of Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka's Minato nagase and CLANNAD's Mei Sunohara. I heard it was sort of like watching a Popeye episode, she ate a taco and BAM! Instant muscles. Mwahaha.

At first the battle was only against Strike Witches' Perinne H. Clostermann and Minamike's Kana Minami, because Isumi Saginomiya was lost...but as soon as she showed up she exorcised the two other girls without blinking an eye, taking hom the big prize.

Sunday's Battles: 09/06

Utau Hoshina

Nagi

This was a tighter battle, and I don't think I would have predicted this outcome. But Kemeko Deluxe's Misaki Hayakawa and Code Geass's Nunnally Vi Britannia both lost to Shugo Chara!'s songstress Utau Hoshina-- which I think is really cool, because she's a pretty strong, interesting character (though I love me some Nunnally).

On the other hand, anyone could have predicted THIS battle. Kannagi's Nagi waved her pink plastic "magic" wand and poofed Combat Butler Hayate's Miki Hanabishi and Ef's Chihiro Shindou right out of existence. Then she pretended that Zange-chan did it.

Monday's Battles: 09/07

Louise de la Valliere
Louise de la Valliere
Komoe Tsukuyomi
Komoe Tsukuyomi
A very, VERY tight battle here. Not for Strike Witches'  Mio Sakamoto, who earned a respectable but too low 162 points, but Saki's Hisa Takei earned 633 points-- and Louise de la Valliere took home 664. I guess at the last second she was able to get her void powers working!

Meanwhile, A Certain Magical Index's certain Komoe Tsukuyomi was certainly defeating Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~'s Ein, perhaps while she was distracted garrotting Koihime Musou's Sousou Moutoku. Ouch.

Today's Battles: 09/08

Mion Sonozaki
Mion Sonozaki
Amu Hinamori
Amu Hinamori
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni's Mion Sonozaki "borrowed" Rena's kitchen knife to do a bit of...chopping, it seems, as she defeated the cheese-loving Tsuruya and the barely-speaking Kyon no Imouto from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I guess she didn't like Endless Eight either.

And another Shugo Chara! win! Amu Hinamori did a quick character change and blasted her special sparkly power at Valkyria Chronicles' Alicia Melchiott and Koihime Musou's Kanu Unchou. It wasn't an easy battle, though, so I wonder if she'll survive the next round?...

Tomorrow's Battles: 09/09

  • Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu's MIKA NOGIZAKA takes on Clannad's KYOU FUJIBAYASHI and Negima's KONOKA KONOE. I'm generally inclined to think Kyou will take this, unless there's a Negima resurgence (maybe because of the new movie announcement?)
  • Strike Witches' Erica Hartmann gets ready for battle against Combat Butler Hayate's Sakuya Aizawa and Saki's Koromo Amae. I'm torn; Koromo beat out her second-placer by only two points, and that second-placer was from Combat Butler Hayate, so those people may vote Sakuya now...but we can't count out the Strike Witch either. Hm.

Your Turn!

Whew! What'd you think of all those earlier battles? Some of them are getting pretty tight. More importantly, what do you think about tomorrow's Strike Witches/Hayate/Saki battle? I'm still torn!

Yay Louise has won her battle! :D I doubt she will win the whole thing though... I'm really not sure Sakuya hasn't really endeared me yet and Saki I have not watched. So I'll just say that the Witch will win even though I probably won't be voting.

I don't understand why people like Kannagi herself... I find her just plain annoying (though then again, she wasn't up against much). Mion beat Rena though? Wow.

All I know is Kyou better win her round next or I'm never bothering with Saimoe again.

Kyou all the way!

@Void_Wizard: It does seem like it'd be odd for her to win overall when her series hasn't been airing lately. We'll see!

Dig Deeper into Moe

Moe (pronounce moh-eh) is a Japanese slang term for something one likes, and within the anime realm is used to refer to characters who inspire a protective sort of love-- usually because the characters seem to need someone to take care of them.
