Unfortunately I had difficulty confirming the information anywhere else; the only other mention I saw of it was at Anime Maker Sendenman, who also didn't cite a source (though they also claimed that Yoshikazu Iwanami ( Ah! My Goddess, Blood+, Slayers Revolution, etc.) would be sound-directing the show).
So for the time being this is officially a rumor, albeit a plausible one. Natalie also notes that it is still unannounced whether Mudazumo will be a TV series or an OVA.
You may remember Mudazumo as the anime that features former Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi as a mah-jongg player, taking on the likes of Vladimir Putin and George W. Bush in the ongoing games.
