Return of Shin Buun, Take Two

Also known as the "whenever Gia feels like it" news round-up.

Yes, this is another feature I want to get back on the regular schedule now that the Month of Con is over. So let's see what's been up recently!
Gunslinger Girl
Gunslinger Girl
Robert's Anime Corner Store confirms that the Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino OVA will be coming out from FUNimation on December 1st, and that on the same day, the first season of Gunslinger Girl will come out on Blu-Ray.

Word is that a new anime titled Zaidan Houjin Occult Designer Gakuin-- which translates roughly to The Incorporated Foundation of Occult Designers School – is in the process of being created by Aniplex and TV Tokyo, to be along with director Jun Matsumoto (See also Persona ~Trinity Soul~ and various work on Blood+) and Hiroyuki Kitakubo, best known as the director of the original Blood: The Last Vampire movie (along with Golden Boy, Robot Carnival, and others).

It's also come to my attention that the man arrested in conjunction with the disappearance of one Deborah Fourzan, whose story became frequent fodder on anime message boards because it was reported that she ran away to attend an anime convention with the man, has reportedly made a plea bargain. The man, James Joseph Reimer, has agreed to a 15-year prison sentence for “enticing a minor” and using a cell phone to send sexualy explicit messages to a child. These are only the local charges, though, and federal charges are still possible. That said, it's an interesting piece-- apparently Fourzan and Reimer also visited locations mentioned in the Twilight series. No accounting for taste...
Versailles
Versailles

Japanator mourns the loss of Jasmine You, the bassist for the megaband, who died at the age of 30 on Saturday from currently undisclosed causes. Fans of the band (and its flamboyant costumes) are shocked at the suddenness, and it's unclear if the band finished their latest album before his passing.

Speaking of visual-oriented bands, and just to close off on a more fun note: a slightly different “Evangelion.”

'Nightie night!
