FUNi swears that they'll still have plenty of content for free, and their episodes are $0.99. TheAnimeNetwork still has a lot of their own content up for free on YouTube as well as their own player, and individual episodes are rentable for $1.99.
Hmmm, on the one hand, I'm glad to see companies find new ways to potentially monetize stuff (because it means they can bring more over)-- on the other hand, people are so used to getting stuff for free on YouTube, so I don't know how much they'll jump on these rentals. I could see it a lot more for a movie instead of a whole series, too.
What do you think? Will you rent, say, a couple of episodes of Spice and Wolf from FUNi or Legends of the Dark King ~ Fist of the North Star from Anime Network?

So I'll pass!
People would much rather do monthly fees for things. Sort of reminds me of what a bad idea is was back when dial-up was paid by use.
If I do happen to want to rent something, then I'd just rather rent it from Netflix.
I`ma keep buying box sets....
I buy my anime for 2 bucks an episode on X-box 360 marketplace,but the differents here is that I get to keep the episode and not rent it.
@Djm:
Do you know how that works? Do the companies behind the dvd's you rent get some sort of kickback?
@Juuhachi:
Where are you from?
I love it. I've never been totally attached to the whole "having it in my hands" philosophy like a lot of otaku, so for me, netflix is ideal.
