Rankapoid Design Isn't Very Deculture

Sorry, but this gets a resounding "meh" from me.

I don't know how many of you have been waiting in anticipation for the “Rankapoid” to appear-- that is, Vocaloid2's new voice-generation add-on, joining the ranks of Miku Hatsune, the Kagamine twins, and Luka Megurine. You may remember that I wasn't particularly thrilled to the gills with Megurine's design compared to the twins and Miku.

But...the Rankapoid, or rather the Megpoid as she's called (since officially it's a Vocaloid of voice actress Megumi Nakajima, not Ranka Lee) ...well, I'm really not blown away by it, that's for sure. The design is okay, maybe a little above average, but the image currently shown on the box-- I actually had to look around to make sure that it wasn't a fan rendering. It's not bad art, of course, but it doesn't have the strong, polished, professional look that the all four of the other Vocaloid characters have received.

Which seems really odd, since this product is such fanbait. Then again, maybe they did'nt put as much effort into the design since they know most of the fans will be picturing Ranka anyway? Hmm...what do you think?

The design on this one is very meh... I liked Luka more than the twins personally, but this one is very meh.

Thankfully, everything you find on NicoNico or YouTube will probably feature Ranka, who is much easier on the eyes. They can call it Megpoid, but I doubt there are many people out there who don't think of it as Rankapoid.
