Random Nostalgia: Italian Anime

No, really, check it out.

"WTF? Italian? On MY animu site?" you may be thinking right now. If you even recognized that title as Italian. But the other day I was sitting in my car and I put in an older mix CD (I have an mp3-CD player, so I have batches of CD-Rs lying around with ~150 random songs on 'em), and this track came on: the group 883 singing a song called "Regina Del Celebrità" (more or less "Princess of the Party").

It's a really catchy pop tune, but it wasn't my ear that noticed it first: it was my eyes. When I was in Italy in the summer after my sophomore year in high school, and there were two things I almost always found when I would flip through a hotel TV's channels: Italian-dubbed Kodocha, and this music video.

Yes, Italy is also fond of its anime, and I suspect whoever did the animation for this video is particularly a Rumiko Takahashi fan. Anyway, I always thought it was a really cute video and a really nice song (I can tell what's going on even with my distressingly minimal Italian). So I thought I'd share it. Enjoy!

It looks like some really bad Saturday morning cartoon.

I'm pretty sure Regina means Queen in Latin. Although what it means in Italian I couldn't tell you but I assume it would be the same being the acting monarch that is female. Anyway random fact Regina is the capital of Saskatchewan.

Ya the animation isn't the greatest I'd say.

@JJOR64:
@Konanda:
For the record, this is a crappy YouTube video for a music video from Italy that was released in 1999. ;)

It's kind of an anime version of the RAI (Radio Televizione Italiana) channel regular programming. The go-go dancer reminded me a little of Lum. Odd.
