Quickie: The Girl Leaps Through Time, Again

I'd love to ponder on this more, but I have an opera to see!

Canned Dogs reports that extras casting for a live-action film based on Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo is underway. Not much is known about the new movie version, although Zepy extrapolates from the setting that it won't be based on the popular anime film-- though we can't say for sure if it will be a direct adaptation of the original novel, either.

This is the third TokiKake live action film-- there was one in 1983 and another in 1997, and even a made-for-TV movie in 2002. Plus a live-action drama in 1994. TokiKake Mania? Maybe a little.

...and all we got was the "quasi-sorta" sequel anime. Not that I'm complaining because it's one of my all-time favorite films. Maybe we're getting closer to seeing the novel translated into English. One can hope, right?

Also, seeing that many adaptations for the TokiKake novel has me wondering if there's an American equivalent. I know there is, but I just can't think of one offhand.

Dig Deeper into The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Originally a novel about a girl who learned that she could literally jump through time, the novel has been adapted into manga and into a highly-acclaimed animated movie.
