Quickie: Crunchyroll Now On Your iPhone

Right where you wanted it. Probably.

Totally missed it, so kudos to a kindhearted ANN reader who reported in that Crunchyroll now has an iPhone streaming application, so that you can watch all those cool shows on your nice little portable device. It's ben up since January 14th-- presumably as sort of a beta run, since press release-happy Crunchyroll didn't ship one out.

If you have a WiFi connection on your iPhone or iPod touch you can give it a shot. I'm betting that our own AHR may try it out, since she's been enjoying our Crunchyroll account-- but beware! You can't get early access to simulcasts on your iWhatever, even if you're a paying user, and you have to manually turn on subtitling-- but don't worry, paid users do still bypass ads.

It'll be interesting to see how this develops; as someone who will most likely be owning an Android phone in the near future I hope they're working on an Android app as well! Those of you with iDevices, you can download the app right here.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!   Yet another reason that I want an iPhone now.  I wish I had AT&T where I lived.

I read a news story a while back that the android would be getting flash support sometime in the future so maybe you wont need an app and could just go to the website.

Meh. Needing AT&T kills the iPhone forever.

Flash 10.1 on Android doesn't work on video sites quite yet. The next Android update won't be until March so there's still time to work out those bugs.

@Slim: Yeah, that's my biggest issue. AT&T blows.

@HSaabedra: It varies; YouTube works fine on my friend's Droid, but our videos on Vice, not so much. Which is why we have an Anime Vice YouTube channel! </pimping>

Dig Deeper into Crunchyroll

Originally created as something of a specialty YouTube for anime and other Japanese media and consisting primarily of illicit fansubs, in 2008 CrunchyRoll established deals to legally distribute some popular anime series simultaneous to their Japanese airing.
