@Glitch: It is, though I haven't snatched up volume 2 just yet. Volume 1 you can pick up for the art alone, but the best part is that the characters and story actually are really awesome too. :)
For a split second I pictured Ōoku as being another take on the whole mass population decline kind of thing seen sometimes in sci-fi. Anyway it sounds like an interesting premise.
