Anime/Manga News, Stories and Updates
Are you sick of new features yet? I hope not, because here's our third: the weekly Quick Picks. There's a lot of anime and manga coming out in the west these days, so as I will say in this video, I thought I'd offer you some direction on where you might want to spend your hard-earned money.

And yes, this is aimed entirely at North American release dates, so I apologize in advance to our many readers from other parts of the world. In my defense, I can barely keep up with NA release-- but if one of you wants to blog about EU releases every so-often, hit me up and maybe we can work something out!

Without further ado...here are my Quick Picks. Now featuring a new contributor: Geekachu!

And of course, here's a listing of all of the SKU'd anime and manga releases that I could find for this week!

Also: Hobby Search's figure sale, and that list of FUNimation's online titles.

WOO! ANOTHER NEW FEATURE!
FLStyle on Nov. 19, 2009
Another useful feature, nice job.

Your working area is a great backdrop for videos Gia! I wonder how many retakes Ana must have had to do, I wouldn't be able to do that through an entire shoot without laughing :P

Kikachu... sounds a lot like a voice I heard from ComicVine's podcast.

New editor right?

Nice Feautre.... I'm always looking for what is right/wrong for me to read/watch this will help a lot!

@sora_thekey: Geekachu. Geekachu! ;)

Is Black Jack like some of Tezuka's other works in that when they localized it they mirrored it because I know that threw me off, when I read Buddha Vol 1. and some select pages from the other volumes for one of my non-technical electives.

I don't think I could get sick of new features for the site. The only thing I've been getting sick of are the topics being covered in the news lately, but that's neither here nor there.

Well, this feature sure addressed quite a few of the critiques I've had lately. Well done!! I especially like the touch of the merchandising topic. That is a cute figure, but the painting looks kind of "blah".

Very nice info on anime related stuff. Looking forward to watching Casshern Sins.

Can't beat free.
Konanda on Nov. 20, 2009

So I answered my own question when I found a copy of Black Jack Vol. 1 at the campus bookstore in the small lonely manga and comics shelf, which seemed to be only marginally marked up from the U.S. price, which is awesome I mean it's not as great as buying manga at a con (where they usually sell at the U.S. sale price so they can move as much product as they can at least lately I mean it would probably change should the Canadian dollar start to slip against the U.S. dollar)

Nice feature, sadly brings to light how out of touch I am with the goings on in anime nowadays :/

Liked that you plugged Casshern Sins, a bit gloomy and the most boring intro I can recall watching. But also has a cool, slender, organic machine with a face...thingy that comes on during battle and an ending that doesn't compeletly suck.

Edit: I should also say I adored the artstyle. I don't know why but it just clicked with me.

Whoa, awesome! I guess that means I can't get away with the terribly rusty ASL I like to do during videos. Most of it never makes the cut, but whenever I get bored and distracted I tend to sign something or just start fingerspelling whatever I can see.

Though, probably for the best, it irritates Gia and then she just starts speaking Japanese to me in return. Do you still find you enjoy our video features then? I only bring it up since we tend to do off camera narration at times as well?
Niko on Nov. 20, 2009
@Konanda: Black Jack isn't mirrored. It reads the original right to left.

I'm so sad I'm now four volumes behind Black Jack.

Volume 4 of Vampire Hunter D has been delayed, as usual. The cover art hasn't even been finalized yet and the official site still lists as releasing on Nov. 18th....way to go DMP....
sora_thekey on Nov. 21, 2009
@John_Martone: Wow... you should totally do ASL...

Here's the thing... I became deaf when I was 11 I think... all because in my family every third generation there's a deaf person (Me)... So I am not tottally deaf (yet) but I do actually confuse sounds a lot nowadays...

My first language was actually ASL... then I learned Spanish and then Mexican Sign Language (I'm Hispano and live in a boarder city.... very close to you actually) Then I learned English all in between 1 and 11 years old.... hehe so aparently when I reach about 30 I'll either become compleatly deaf or just stay in the confusing sounds stage...

So yeah... Gia sorry for that I'll rmeber it next time... GEEkachu! :)
