Well, naturally all the VIZ products can be skipped. Boycott VIZ and support good publishers. The Lucky Star volume could be nice. I'm waiting till next week when Del Rey publishes some more manga, such as Negima! Volume 25.
RUN! Run and hide from that horrid "Case Closed" Movie 6! That subtext of the story was suppose to be about the problems with the heritage system dragging Japan down. See (03:34-04:17)
Another random Funny Scene:
If they ever plan to dub the seventh Detective Conan movie. Now that will be a train wreck. The whole plot of that movie revolved around the tale of Benkei and Yoshitsune in Japan. Again, Names and Culture play a huge role in the story.
Pretty hilarious too that you say these great titles should be skipped (because they're VIZ) and then go on to say Lucky Star and Negima look good. Right.
I say they are well worth of boycott, because they edit content for no reason in such a way that in some series it either ruins or completely contradicts the stories and events happening. They are a publisher. Just just are not a good one.
VIZ utterly butchered my favorite series. The amount of alterations to that series is utterly disgusting.
There are a lot of good publishers out there that don't alter the content of the series. Del Rey being one of them.
Lucky Star and Negima! are entertaining and well done mangas made by publishers that don't ruin content. They aren't VIZ products. So, why does that make it hilarious?
@FoxxFireArt:
I think he's wrong to find it funny. You couldn't possibly know that VIZ is publishing some of the greatest comics of the last decade like 20th Century Boys and Pluto, since your little vendetta prevents you from picking up those books. It's really sad. He should feel sorry for you. I do.
Oh no what happened to Geekachu! Also I like how, while I was watching this and the "Over 9000!" bit was said my cat who was chilling beside me rolled over away from the screen in complete apathy to the reference.
@gendo7:
You must be new or don't check the news related posts otherwise you would have probably been beaten over the head already with FoxxFire's constant digs at VIZ whenever possible because of alterations they made in the release of Case Closed to the original Detective Conan manga. The man knows how to hold a grudge and I commend him on his tenacity. Although I disagree with his views as my purchase of The Record of a Fallen Vampire volume 8 yesterday shows, which is an awesome series once you get past the second volume.
Pretty much if you read my reviews of the first 7 volumes you would see that the real draw I find to the series is the mystery involved behind how the Kingdom of Night fell as it is told via flashback with the characters that were present back then. There is a love story subplot as well between the characters that were from when the Kingdom of Night fell that factors in as well. The actual main plot itself is fairly average and really just serves as an excuse to draw these characters together to reveal this mystery. So if you are in for an interesting mystery coupled with a somewhat complicated love story and some very nice art I would say pick it up.
Personally I found volumes 5,6,7 to be the best. (just started reading through 8 but I'm really enjoying it as well and 9[last volume] isn't out yet) 3 is also pretty good, 4 is average. While I say skipping volume 1 and 2 would be alright (they mainly are to introduce the characters, the current setting and the main plot. I'd say just read a summary) I wouldn't recommend skipping 4 entirely since it does develop the relationship between Strauss and Bridget some more along with some other things important to the Kingdom of Night. However many parts of volume 4 really go back to what is happening with the main plot, which is skippable.
That said if you aren't into mystery mixed with some romantic drama and vampires than I would say you should look elsewhere.
Clearly or maybe he was just tired.
Not to mention the mess we had to clean up afterwards! :p
