God's in his heaven (reading One Piece), all's right with the world.

I never even saw that poll. I almost never go through the forums here. I'm normally too busy submitting things or giving Gia a hard time about movies.
 
I read both Fairy Tail and One Piece. It's series like One Piece is what makes me wish VIZ wasn't such a bastard company that deserved to be put to sleep humanely. Hearing they were putting One Piece into heavy production is the only time I have been even slightly tempted to lift my boycott on all things VIZ. I'm not though.
 
Fairy Tail is a great read, but it just hasn't ever effected me emotionally on the same level as One Piece has. Many of the moments were just so heartbreaking when you learn about the characters' pasts.
 
It has so many deeply emotional moments. Like in One Piece Episode 37, in this one Nami things she's lost everything she's been working for. That everyone she loves will die at the hands of Arlong. Out of rage she starts stabbing the Arlong tattoo she had on her shoulder. Luffy shows up and stops her from causing any more harm to herself. Luffy doesn't know anything of what happened to her in the past. She goes from screaming at him to leave to to crying and asking for him help. Luffy just takes his straw hat and places it on her head. Before Luffy would get angry is anyone else so much as touched it. Here he is letting her wear it. Luffy went off to fight Arlong. Luffy didn't even know what Arlong looked like. The only thing he knew was that Arlong made her cry. That was enough reason for him to go kick that guy's fishy ass.
 
A little later in One Piece Episode 43, Luffy is in a heated battle with Arlong. During the fight they wind up in a room filled with maps all over. It's the room Nami was forced to draw maps for Arlong since she was a small child and he murdered her mother. Luffy realizes what this room is. He finds a pen that has blood stains on it and realizes how hard this had been for Nami. Realizing this Luffy goes wild. He isn't even aiming at Arlong any more. He's destroying the room. The maps, the desk, and everything. Years of her hard work is being destroyed by Luffy. Nami is watching this from outside. Everyone is confused why there is furniture and paper flying out. Nami is the only one who understands what he's doing. She started to cry and silently thanks Luffy. Her dream was to make a map of the world and Arlong as forcing her to make maps for his own goals. He was perverting her child hood dream.
 
This is just Nami's story. Robin has a tragic past as well. She lost everything in her young life and spent twenty years on the run. She was ready to give her life to save the crew, but Luffy and the others barged in to save her. Everyone Robin had ever known had abandoned her at some point. Luffy and the crew declared war on the World Government just to save her.
 
That's just how I feel about the matter.

RAVE has a great and heart breaking ending, but in a good way. It's well worth it.
