PSYCHO-PASS 2 -- Best Anime of Fall 2014?

Here's why you should be keeping up with this cerebral crime thriller...

This season lacks elegant in a few episodes but it still keep most of the good parts together. On my list of AOTY it falls a bit short but it mostly because I'm comparing it to Season 1.

Far from it. It lacks the sophisticated plotting of the first season that made you wonder of the flaws to the dystopian future set up by the Sibyl System.

I liked the first season better. As for best fall 2014 show, I have to go with Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade works; then again I'm biased towards anything Type Moon

I just finished watching PSYCHO-PASS season one on Netflix, with Japanese dialog. I really liked it. I would more describe it as MINORITY REPORT meets JUDGE DREDD. I also saw it as a happy Orwellian fantasy. So often, people depict Orwell's sort of future in very dark terms. Just hammering home the bad aspects.

PSYCHO-PASS does the reverse, in a manner of speaking. Things work so well for the majority. If you need psychological care, then it's just given to you. However, the darkness of this world is hidden in the shadows. People became too dependent to the point where they can't function without Big Brother (Sybil System). As we saw when they captured the previous season's villain the first time. They just didn't have the structure for trials anymore.

They are so incredibly vulnerable, but most are totally unaware of how dangerously close they could come to total destruction. Look at the plan of the villain at the end of the first season. One little thing, and their food supply could have collapsed. The rest would start to fall like dominoes.

Am I the only one who sees some irony in the truth behind the Sybil System and its name? "Who am I talking to now, Sybil?"

It's also so strange to see the villains being the ones who are fighting to cut the puppet strings, and the heroes fighting for the status quo. Mainly because they know the chaos might not be worth actual freedom to choose.

Something that confused me a bit. We see Akane change the appearance of her clothes with her devices, much in the same way her apartment changes. So, what is she actually wearing? I don't mean to sound pervy about it. It's more a question of how protected is she actually from the elements. The whole person of clothing.

I think Akane is very cute, even if she dose look Permanently stoned, Lol while I don't think Psycho pass 2 is better than Parasyite, I do think it's a top contender, it's certainly one of the better Dystopian future works I've seen, arguably the industry's very own 1984, and really looking forward to the movie,

@FoxxFireArt: Oh spot on about the multi personality aspect of " Sybil". Very nice catch. The 1st season has so many layers its easy to miss things like that. An I have watched it now 4 times if we count the "New Edit".

@Wraith: 1st season had that literary driving aspect thats not in the second season. More so 1st season had books quotes to drive it where as the second season has maybe movies an video games as it style guide. 2nd season is different so it should rank different to people. 1st seasons depth is hard to match.

@Kino88: Oh maybe thats why she can not be clouded! An yeah her eyes have always bugged me to.

Psycho Pass 2 is a great show. I had thoughts the 2nd season wouldn't live up to the 1st season. I have been impressed and hyped and reeled by season 2's new cast and villains.

The 1st season is still better if you love the literary references.

Correction for Matt Murphy:

The series is legally available on HULU, FUNimation, and Netflix. It's not available on Crunchyroll.

@Marshal Victory:

The art style with the eyes did bug me a bit just like Seven Deadly Sins eyes for the manga since they are far apart or too big/weird. I got used to it.

I fucking love this show, I love the opening, I love the setting and most importantly I freaking love how well developed the characters are. I can say, without any exaggeration, that Akane Tsunemori is the best developed female character in the last 5 years or even 10 years of anime.
