PSYCHO-PASS 2 #5 -- Watch & Learn

Real talk: what is your co-worker's coefficient?

We’re applying Crime Coefficients to office politics, now? Interesting…

A big reason this show continues to hold my attention is that its premise has countless angles of applicability (and to situations you’d actually encounter in real life, no less). It isn’t the brain in the jar - - piling layers of intellectual abstraction on top of each other - - it’s actually a very sharp way of viewing the world.

We all deal with co-workers and classmates. And we get along with some better than others. Well, what if that could be measured, too?

PSYCHO PASS has always felt like futurism from the mind of an economist, and you see that being demonstrated once more in this episode. Our new upstart basically fits the same personality profile as Akane - - a clean-hued inspector - - but she simply doesn’t like how Akane does things. Maybe it’s arbitrary. Call it professional rivalry, but we still see her essentially trying to use the Letter of the Law to do away with Akane. Of course, their supervisor realizes that an inspector who knows when to follow the Spirit of the Law before the Letter is more useful than one who stubbornly refuses to differentiate between the two; so she just takes the report without any intention of following through on it.

And once again, there’s a sci-fi explanation for why you have to cooperate with a competent co-worker, even when you dislike them. That’s more substantive than wondering if your laptop feels…

The mystery’s still cooking at a slow burn, but I’m appreciating that pace, because it puts a point on how bureaucracy always wins in the end in this world. For all the Promeathean danger this new Big Bad poses, his greatest threat is his potential to make Akane slip. She isn’t totally hung up about Kogami, or rattled by the massacre, but she’s clearly still effected - - even if it’s only by 5%. No matter how iron her constitution is, we’ve seen how it only takes a minor shift to turn an Inspector into a Detective. Could this season wind up showing her fall from Sybil’s graces?

Watch "Unforbidden Games" and decide for yourself, then read my comments on the previous episode.

I like how the new villain isn't just toying With people who defy the system, rather he's Acting as a anarchist doctor giving His captives a clean hue and in doing so even Winning them over to his side, whereas Makashima Was banking almost entirely on his own transparent Hue to act as ghost, Kogami however seems crafty enough to make Everyone immune, creepy... also I definitely think Akane may finally lose her cool this season, Maybe,

Hmmm..... I don't know I like the big larger ideas does your laptop have a soul ... if you put your brain in a bird would it fly backwards...(name of one of my science fair experiments actually). Still, enjoying the first season of this and glad to see it is continuing to be good.
