Are you tired of the same old turn-based battle system in Pokémon games? Do you want something a little faster? A little more frantic? How about something a little more like Street Fighter?
There's no shortage of homebrew 2D fighting games out there, for sure, but this one has stood out recently. The game features smooth animations, neat little pre-fight sequences and--an integral part of any 2D fighter--fireballs.
I could go on about the rest of great polish on this game, but I'll let the video speak for itself:
You can download the beta here and give it a whirl yourself.

Definitely looks interesting. XD I'll give the Beta a try.
Now that looks like a interesting take on the standard Pokemon game. Might have to go and give the beta a try this weekend xD
Hmm, not my most well-written article, guess I was a little tired at the time. Oh well, the video is the focus anyway.
I think this game looks really neat, I'll have to try it out when I'm done playing Gears 3.
Now there's a fighting game I would actually play.
This looks like a cease and desist waiting to happen.
Anyhoo, I think the ultimate Pokemon game would be like your standard JRPG but once combat start the gameplay switches to a view similar to those PS3/360 Naruto fighters and you're running around as a Pokemon in a 3D space with destructible objects to hide behind or use and all of the Pokemon's abilities are user mapped to various face buttons/triggers.
Why would I want to punch Gengar in the face? I wanna punch dudes in the face with Gengar.
@MattyFTM: I could totally see the Giant Bomb community getting into this if it had online play. I'd be down for a Poké-throwdown.
@Senor_Kami: Nah, as long as they aren't selling it nothing will happen, it's all in good fun. That Pokémon game you made up sounds crazy as fuck. I'd play it.
Everyone, forget this Pokémon crap. I've found the best 2D fighting game:
@Newten: You have GOT to be kidding me...
@sora_thekey: Admit it. That's the best thing you've seen all day.
Also I'm digging the music in that trailer. I need to get my hands on that.
@Newten: I like the show... but that might be going over the top. Although I did just get an image in my head where every time Pinky Pie "jumps" she does so by holding on to balloons.
@sora_thekey: There's no such thing as going too far! There's even this.
@Newten: That IS going too far! *facepalm* I'll remain a fan of the show but don't count me in for those kind of stuff!
@sora_thekey: A spoil-sport is what you are. Fan-made games can be great fun.
Someone start the countdown clock to when Nintendo issues a cease and desist order. They view fan made games as a violation of their copy right...which they are.
@ZombiePie: I've literally never heard of a little homebrew fan game getting shut down. It's not making money and as far as I'm concerned it's free brand advertising.

The first link is the most relevant.
@ZombiePie: Okay those are a little different, they're freaking MMOs and fan made sequels. This is just a little fighting game. And Nintendo trying to stop Wii modding is a different thing. When I said "homebrew" I didn't mean homebrew made for consoles, that's a whole other can of worms.
@Newten: Definitely an awesome find, Newten! That'll be some good fun! XD
@Bigheart711: I really want to see how Rainbow Dash and the others fight. They've only really shown Twilight and Applejack so far.
But yeah, both of these games look pretty fun.
