Persona 4 The Animation is Licensed and Simulcasting Schedule

Persona 4 The Animation has been officially licensed and scheduled for same day simulcasting on Anime Network.

If October wasn't looking to be a big enough month for you anime fans with both One Piece and BLEACH having their big time skip episodes airing. News has recently broken that should get all the Whiskey Media members excited. Sentai Filmworks, the people who released Highschool of the Dead earlier this year, has licensed Persona 4 The Animation.

Persona 4 The Animation begins October 6th.
Persona 4 The Animation begins October 6th.

Persona 4 has had a unique history with Whiskey Media ever since Giant Bomb did their 100 hourEndurance Run of this ATLUS murder mystery RPG. Many users have been excited about the news of the anime and have wondered if and how this series will be coming to the U.S. audience. No more staring into the TV at midnight on a rainy day. We now have an answer. The Anime Networkannounced Thursday it will be streaming Persona 4 The Animation(P4:A) online for free through their official website. They plan on simulcasting each episode every Thursday at 3PM EST starting from October 6th. Your streaming options aren't just limited to The Anime Network (AN). After 24 hours of being posted on AN's site, it will be added to both HULU and HULU Plus. Hard to say they aren't providing options.

The series directed by Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats! and My Bride is a Mermaid) is expected to run for 25 episodes, but currently the schedule has only been announced for the first twelve. The entire main cast from the video game will be returning to reprise their roles. In addition, Sentai Filmworks has announced that P4:A will released on DVD and Blu-ray some time in 2012.

Sentai Filmworks, the company who's licensing this for the US did dub Highschool of the Dead for DVD/Blu-ray. Sadly, it was one of the worst dubs I've ever heard. Hopefully, they will learn from that and never do that again.

@CrackedOnyx:

I was worried that this might be too obscure to not get simulcasted. I was so excited about this that I had to write this article. I watched the entire GB Endurance Run.

I haven't watched it, but the localization and VA for Guin Saga wasn't supposed to be so hot either. Apparently, Sentai's had some history with some bad localization and dubbing lately, and I'm fearing the worst for this series. I get the feeling that Yu Namba and Rich Margolis and the rest of Atlus' crew won't be even given a cup of coffee to discuss Inaba, which is a shame since the localization team at Atlus did an incredible job with the game.

Sweet, probably the only anime I'm interested in this season.

I haven't watched anime in a decade + when I was in junior high loving pokemon and dragon ball Z, but I'm excited for this!

@FoxxFireArt: yea been watching the marathon run...game looks really cool seems to actually be trying to say something about the masks we wear the "personas" we put on to survive in the world. I'm actually very impressed.

Is this going to be available to stream in the UK? or am I going to get the usual 'this is not available in your geographic region'

I know, this is what I fear too.

Otherwise good news!

Me too, I doubt it will be available =(

@FoxxFireArt: That dub isn't as bad as your making it out to be...

I could see this as not getting a dub at all if they can't get the cast from the game, which I'm OK with that.

I bet click count skyrockets for AV every time there's persona 4 news.

golguinon Oct. 2, 2011 at 12:34 a.m.

Good stuff. I assume Hulu will have high res versions of the show right?

I don't think that's true, Xenosaga the animation didn't have the original cast and it was originality licensed by ADV now known as Sentie.

Alright! The game works perfect for an anime and I won't have to get lost in dungeons again to enjoy the story.

I just enjoyed the GiantBomb Endurance Run of Persona 4, I hope it will be something similar (and equally funny).

AlKusanagion Oct. 6, 2011 at 12:07 p.m.

Apparently their definition of "simulcast" is "our web site is broken."

@AlKusanagi:

Try it now, I just finished watching it with HD on. It stuttered a few times, but it eventually got working. It was awesome. I love how they graphic the day switches and show you his stats on the commercial break image.
