PARASYTE - THE MAXIM #3-4 -- Watch & Learn

So, why is this so scary anyway?

Well, that accelerated a lot faster than I expected it would…

My friend commented that this show has basically been like “Clive Barker’s Spider-Man,” so far, and I’d be inclined to agree. I’d take it a step farther and put it in a very particular sub-genre - - let’s call it ‘super-horror’ - - which also includes DEATH NOTE, ATTACK ON TITAN and GANTZ. The morbid subject matter is a given, but I think it’s more about the power balance between hero and villain.

So, that’s a long way of explaining why this teacher and her malformed lover were so enthralling to watch. She figures out who Shinichi is almost immediately. She demands this lunch with him because she holds all the cards. And then A just decides to forget about this whole secret-identity handshake agreement, and he targets Shinichi right at his own school. When our hero bests him, it’s only just barely. Ryoko is the one who has the power to actually off him.

Even though we’ve seen Shinichi do all this Cool Shit, he’s still dealing with a threat who’s a league above him.

And there’s the genuinely horrific situation Shinichi gets put into after Ryoko reveals she’s pregnant. Not only is it creepy to hear her describe how she and A had sex to (basically) just see what would happen, now Shinichi’s in this awful, uncomfortable, moral conundrum. Would he actually murder an innocent baby to save his town? That's not a question Luffy ever gets asked...

Watch "Feast" and "Disheveled Hair" and decide for yourself, then read my thoughts on the previous episode.

yeah super horror is about right, And it is delightfully creepy how this thing Has chosen to assume the role of an everyday school teacher, All the while being perfectly capable of Turning her innocent, students into appetizers at the drop of a dime, Let's hope she doesn't get bored, Lol

Really liking this series so far. Something that also needs to be highlighted is how important the facial animation is here... and not just when their heads explode into tentacles. Having relatable conversations and human reactions goes a long way into pulling you into the story.

Dig Deeper into Parasyte -the maxim-

An normal high-schooler ends up with a parasite named "Migi" on his right arm and it ends up being friends with his host instead of eating him like most other parasites. They end up in a crossfire from the war between humans and parasites, however.
