Otaku Offically Makes a DS his Waifu

In the course of one's life, a person will do countless actions that define them. Actions so proudly definitive of one's passion and nerd-dom that you cannot help but just admire them. One example was Dan, the awesome guy who picked up his belongings and flew three thousand miles just to see the Gurren Lagann movies. Another would be the dude who just married his Nintendo DS...
 
Okay, okay... you got me. He didn't marry the DS, he married the digital avatar of Nene Anegaski, from the game Love Plus. After performing the act at a church in Guam, he started to seek legitimacy in the eyes of his peers. After inviting media figures to his wedding reception in Japan, our groom announced that he will be broadcasting the entire event on NicoNico Douga November 22, at 12 o'clock (Japan time I assume.)
 
While I'm sure most of us just want to be happy for the newlyweds, I just wished someone would have let him know that  "She says that to all the guys..."

The whole situation is quite surreal... I don't know if he actually realizes she is a character from a videogame, so his idea of 'reality' is quite warped, or he is suffering of a delusion. A long time ago I had a classmate that suffered that (she believed a certain RPG character was real), and ended in a psychatric ward for quite a long time. Very sad.

@constanzadellarosa: She's not the first-- if you've ever heard of "otherkin" (people who believe that in another life/universe they are in fact a dragon/elf/gnome/troll/dwarf/etc), there are also a very small segment of " otakukin," most of whom claim that they actually share a soul with an anime/manga/game character, who exists in an alternate reality that presents itself as fiction in our world

Picture I forgot to add for being sleepy. Yeah, this already happened actually (well, not the internet wedding reception.) Though I'm uncertain what the legality of marrying a DS is in Guam...

This game has been so compelling over in Japan that I almost want it to come here so I can discover just how good it is. I've never played these dating sim games, but this one has gotten so much attention...

Looks like Konami (I think) is racking in the money with this game.  I myself find this to be a little creepy but, can't stop everything.
