One Piece Strong World Rocks the Theaters

Spoiler: One Piece sells really well in Japan.

So today, One Piece Strong World hit Japanese theaters everywhere, and to no surprise it was doing very, very well for an anime film. In one day it has grossed 4000 million yen, which is completely unheard of for Toei. It was shown on 188 cinemas across Japan, which is pretty small since the last One Piece film was in 293 theaters, and made approximately 417% more than that film. The previous highest record was only 247 million by a Kamen Rider film which screened on 345 cinemas. Proof once again that One Piece is awesome.

While I usually pass on anime movies - especially ones based on long-running shounen series like One Piece or Naruto, the concept of a movie involving the actual author intrigues me. I'm looking forward to seeing this eventually.

One Piece is my favorite anime so far so I think this is just awesome even though I'm not there, I bet Eiichiro Oda is happy now.
