A little information can go a long way when it comes to rumors on the internet, and the name of the twelfth ONE PIECE movie is no exception. When many saw the title ONE PIECE FILM Z. Videos were appearing on YouTube about a ONE PIECE and DRAGON BALL Z joint movie. While certainly not out of the realm of reason. This is not the case. "ONE PIECE FILM Z" is the released title for the next ONE PIECE movie that was announced in production back in November 2011. The " Z" (pronounced as Zetto) in the title is the name of the new villain. It seems TOEI Animation may have seen some of the fan speculation coming, and quickly streamed the new teaser trailer and launched their website.
This will be the second of the movies that ONE PIECE creator Eiichiro Oda will be both providing character designs and executive producing. The previous one being ONE PIECE FILM STRONG WORLD, the tenth OP movie; and he timed the events into the canon of the manga. Other production details that were released are that Tatsuya Nagamine, the assistant director of ONE PIECE: The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventures in Alabasta, is the director for this movie, and the screenplay is written by Osamu Suzuki.
OPZ will be the first of the series to take place in the post time skip era, and if Oda is expecting to also tie this story in with the manga. It will likely take place some time between the end of the current Punk Hazard Island Arc and whatever adventure comes next. Looking through much of the design art. Oda is really playing up the swashbuckler pirate themes.
ONE PIECE FILM Z is due for release in December 15 2012 in Japan. In the meantime, enjoy the latest teaser trailer.
