ONE PIECE Ch. 674 - The Spectators
Caesar Clown is able to turn the children he's experimented on against Nami and Usopp, and it's Brownbeard who comes to their rescue. The twisted scientist then reveals that having a body made of gas means he can control all the gasses around him. That includes the oxygen. With his guinea pigs back in tow. Caesar begins a live demonstration of the weapons he's developed and ready to sell to interested parties. Among these shadowy buyers are some familiar faces.
The Good
I really don't think it could be possible for this series to hammer home more that we're deep into Act. 2 of the Punk Hazard Island Arc. All the players have been introduced in Act. 1. Now, our intrepid, though careless, heroes have gotten themselves caught by the villains. How will they ever get out of this mess?
The whole cliche of Caesar Clown developing weapons of mass destruction just to offer them to the highest bidder is seriously new-age Bond villain, but at least it better than old era where Villain A creates a terrible weapon to destroy the world for no apparent reason or motive. He's an evil genius. He wants to make a profit, and what's more evil in science than using it for little more than money or personal gain?
The Bad
I appreciate ONE PIECE for the plot it develops with action, but they sure are stretching this out for this chapter. I will admit it's better than a flashback - which you can never rule out with Oda. The fights so far have been pretty cool, but are always cut off just as they're getting good. The chapter is playing the role of building up the threat level of our main villain. All to make it more impressive when the tide starts to turn. It's just annoying that Nami rarely ever gets her time to shine.
On the brighter side, I do appreciate that we've finally gotten some closure on how Caesar seemed to defeat Luffy and everyone else a few chapters back. Being able to suffocate the people around you without touching them is pretty nasty. Still, no where near as cool as a good Force Choke.

With everything seeming so formulaic in the chapter, I appreciate the surprise of having Brownbeard of all people coming to the rescues. Who would have guessed that this big putz who was easily defeated by Hawkins would get such a heroic scene? The chapter certainly got me excited.
As much as I play up the melodrama of this cliffhanger. It's even more oddly appropriate given we're going to have to wait for the conclusion. ONE PIECE is on a break next week. Be sure to tune in next time. Same Shonen day, same Shonen channel.

I think CC whole villain cliche is part of his gag, since he almost always get hit before he could finish his villain speech
