On the same day, a special called Ponyo wa Koushite Umareta (roughly "Thus, Ponyo was Born") will also be released. It's a making-of special also available on Blu-Ray, for ¥11,340 ($122 USD). Ouch. You can buy both together for ¥18,480, about $200 USD.
Finally, a third release will also be out on 12/08: a full set of the above plus Joe Hisaishi in Budokan, a performance of the music of Ponyo. This full set is ¥19,110 ($205 USD).
I dunno about you, but I don't have $200 to spend on this, so I'll probably wait for a US release (and/or used copies from Japan for the special features, which may or may not be released here). How about you?
