Anime/Manga News, Stories and Updates

I’m happy that I get to finally play a video game where the main character is an otaku who wields a beam sword; my lifelong fantasy. The previously exclusive Wii game, No More Heroes, will now be coming out for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. This game is titled No More Heroes: Eiyuutachi no Rakuen, and is a port of the first game. New to this port will be a “Very Sweet Mode” which features various costume unlocks for the different female characters, in addition to the HD upgrade.

I’ve been waiting forever to check out this game, and now I can finally have a chance. Assuming of course that this gets a U.S. release, though I really don’t see why it wouldn’t. Take a look at some of the images from this new port below. So, who’s going to be playing this game now?

Leason learned: Mature games don't sell on Wii.

Even though I own the first one, I will definitely re-buy it for my 360.

I love playing the first one on my Wii.

Can't wait to pick this up. I hope they do find a publisher for the NA release though.

let how awesome No More Hero is:

1- Otaku main character
2- use a beam sword
3- find sweet moe shirt in the dumpster
4- learn wresting move
5- 8-bit interface
5- the save point is on the toilet
6- crazy boss that make the main character look normal
7- sweet bike

and other thing that I can't remember.

I'm going to have to hold out for more info, because to be honest... its a fun, but very short package that relies on repetitive and poorly designed traveling around the world to stretch it out long enough that we weren't terrible insulted.

Its kinda like a mega-man game. 8 really, really fun bosses, but the stages (instead of being varied and challenging) are just one long channel where you mash the attack button... and each is identical.

I'm sure whomever produced the first game here will be willing to make a run at this one.

Do you buy re-releases of anime? Like the anime dvd singles and then you keep buying each new release of it in boxset form?
JJOR64 on Nov. 22, 2009
@Void_Wizard: I own hardly any anime at all.  :P  I watch everything online.

While I won't buy this game again (even though it's godamn awesome) I am guilty of this...I always purchase Singles and then albums and compilations by artists I like >_>

*cough*Resident Evil 4: Wii, Umbrella Chronicles, Call of Duty: WaW, The Godfather*cough*

The only reason NMH didn't sell well is because it didn't have a big name like those games. Not every new IP is as lucky as  L4D or Dead Space when it comes to sales.

The truth of the matter is third-party games often sell poorly on the Wii while the first party games flourish.

I am guilty of buying anime singles then the boxset. xD I did it with Shakugan no Shana and I fully expect to buy Evangelion 1.11 on dvd after it releases even though I just bought Evangelion 1.01. I wouldn't of bought the Shana boxset though probably if it didn't come with the OVA that was never sold separately. Pretty much only in certain cases would I re-buy the series...

That's not entirely true. The Call of Duty, GH, RB, Tiger Woods, EA's Active, Shaun White, Sonic and Resident Evil franchises have sold extremly well on the Wii. In Shawn White's and GH3's case they sold more than the other versions.

Also, Monster Hunter Tri is one of the best selling games in Japan recently and it's also a third party Wii game.

In fact,  you just have to look at the Wii's best selling games list to notice an unusually high amount of third party games  for a Nintendo console in it.

I notice the top 6 are by Nintendo...it's widely known that when it comes to their consoles they suceed more than the other by far even though some games have sold well. I have read that RE4 on the Wii did not sell well and thatthe newest:CoD isn't either but I am not sure about that.

RE4: Wii is one of the best selling games on Wii, in fact its success is what made Capcom release the Chronicles series and consider bringing RE5 to the Wii.

And the new CoD has been out for less than 10 days so I can't really say anything about that.

Actually John, Ubisoft passed on publishing the game in North America so we very well might not see it released here. And I wouldn't blame the publishers seeing as how the game didn't exactly knock one out of the park.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm a big SUDA 51 fan. I love all his games, I just don't see this one coming stateside.
RockmanBionics on Nov. 23, 2009
I'm sort of tempted to buy this (again).
Zeouterlimits on Nov. 23, 2009
Depending on how well it turns out I'll pick it up.
