Awesome news for fans of the series as well as quality animation as a whole. The new series won't be ready for broadcast until sometime in 2011, but I say take your time and wait until it's a work to be proud of....follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. With three of the four elements under her belt (Earth, Water, and Fire), Korra seeks to master the final element, Air. Her quest leads her to the epicenter of the modern “Avatar” world, Republic City – a metropolis that is fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. However, Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart. Under the tutelage of Aang’s son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large.

never saw the Live Action one (and don't plan to), and I am looking forward to seeing this one.
Hope they consider airing episodes online besides TV.

About dam time they announced it
Sounds fun. I liked the series and haven't gotten around to seeing the movie yet: but I will sometime (and I don't need to hear any more hate). I want to know who Aang's wife was even though it's obvious. When Korra enters the Avatar State will she see Aang? Many questions to be answered.
I cant wait for this, I have a strong love for the Avatar cartoon and would love for anything else set in that universe.
EDIT: I am hoping that since this is, currently, called Avatar: The Legend of Korra (and in many regions the original is called Avatar: The Legend of Aang) that if the new series is popular then this could lead to more with different Avatar's. As long as it is still good then I will keep watching.
