Anime Vice Anime/Manga News

Anime/Manga News, Stories and Updates
If you've been following Anime Vice for very long, you know we're pretty excited for the upcoming anime movie adaptation of King of Thorn, a manga by Darker than BLACK mangaka Yuuji Iwahara. A new trailer just came out for the movie and it looks great.

The story revolves around a young girl, one of 160 people put in suspended animation in an experiment to cure a virus that is killing thousands throughout the world. Unfortunately, the girl-- Kasumi --is forced to leave her twin sister Shizuku behind. Kasumi and the others wake up abruptly after some unknown amount of time only to find the world is nothing like the one they left behind. Will this random group of people be able to survive? Are there any other humans still alive? And what the heck happened?

What do you think? I'm a little disappointed that there isn't more new footage (most of this was shown in the last trailer), but it still looks like an awesome flick.

This movie looks awesome. Considering how much time there's been since the last trailer I don't mind that it's mostly the same material, it still feels new.

I still think this is ripping off Blue Gender conceptually...

I can see what you mean, although these guys seemingly wake up to a slaughter instead of some emotionless chick with a gun / giant bugs. :P

Didn't read the manga but this trailer looks great.

@HeeroYuy: I'm not sure Blue Gender can be credited as the inventor of the "people freeze themselves to wait for a cure for a disease and wake up in a world that's completely different" concept either :)

@gia: Probably not the inventor, but you understand what I mean by "strangely specific storyline that's been done before".

Having read the manga, I'm both excited and dreading this film. I loved how the series started, but the final act of the storyline really ticked me off. A shame because Iwahara's artwork was fan-frickin-tastic.
